Glynn N. Creamer, 76, a resident of Hilltop Lakes, Texas, and formerly of Richmond, Ky., passed away in Houston, Texas, on July 31, 2009, after an inspirational 11 year-battle with leukemia. Memorial services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the Hilltop Lakes Chapel, in Hilltop Lakes, Texas, and for 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Richmond, Ky., on Saturday, August 29.Dr. Creamer was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and graduated from Northside High School. After serving four years in the Air Force during the Korean War, Glynn earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from University of North Texas (UNT). Glynn was a tech writer at General Dynamics in Fort Worth, working on the F-111 program. He then earned a Master's and Doctorate in Education from UNT. Dr. Creamer taught mathematics and education at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Ky., from 1966 to 1991 where in his later career, he served as director of the University's Office of Teacher Education and Certification. Dr. Creamer continued in education as a partner in Creamer and Associates from 1991 to 1998, providing nutrition consulting, tutoring and teaching.Upon completing his career in education, Glynn moved to Hilltop Lakes, Texas, where he was associated with the Hilltop Lakes Fire Department for eight years. Throughout his life, Glynn was a Little League baseball coach, an avid runner, golfer, gardener and thoroughly enjoyed visits with his numerous grandchildren.Glynn was preceded in death by: his parents, Clarence and Edith Creamer of Fort Worth; and his brother, Calvin Creamer. He is survived by: his wife of 53 years, Effie Creamer; his sisters, Mrs. Shirley Wright of Everman, Texas, Mrs. Gloria Woods of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Mrs. Billie Wilhelm of Bowie, Texas; and brother, Mr. Ed Creamer of Dayton Beach Florida. Glynn has four children: Doug Creamer of Houston, Texas, Rebecca Richins of Las Cruces, N.M., Fred Creamer of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Philip Creamer of Springboro, Ohio. He also has 11 grandchildren who will all dearly miss their Grandpa.The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to: the Hilltop Lakes Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1474, Hilltop Lakes, TX 77871. In addition, memorials may be made to: a scholarship fund in his name in Mathematics Education at Eastern Kentucky University. I LOVED Dr. Creamer. He was such an inspiration to a college student who was not sure which path to follow. I really enjoyed his sense of humor.......so sorry of his passing!
