Gordon TANNER Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province on Sep. 5, 2015.
TANNER, Albert Gordon, P. Eng.
Gordon was born on September 25, 1925 in Vancouver, the eldest of four siblings. He passed away peacefully and in comfort on Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Cottage Hospice in Vancouver, just one month and one day shy of his 90th birthday, with his four children nearby. Gordon leaves to mourn his daughters Willa (Kelly Love) and Ellen and sons Bruce (Ann) and David (Gwen); his wonderful grandchildren Heather (Carter), Erin, Sara, Wesley (Danielle), Daryl, Danny (Vicki), Kelly (Jessica), Bradley, Donna and Jackie; 10 great- grandchildren; his sister Flon; sister-in-law Barbara; numerous nieces and nephews and dear friend Eva. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Margaret (Parsons) in 1994; his two brothers, Aubrey and Giles; sister-in-law Peg and son-in-law Al. Gordon graduated from UBC in 1947 with a B.A.Sc.(Civil Engineering) and went on to leave his mark on many hydroelectric, irrigation, highway and industrial construction projects in British Columbia, other parts of Canada, and around the world during his long career. Gordon was a loving husband, caring father, doting grandfather, and cherished brother and friend. He was a wonderful inspiration to everyone he was with and will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the BC Cancer Agency, the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Cottage Hospice, Catherine Yoon and the homecare nurses at Pacific Coastal Health, and Dr. Roberts for their compassionate care of Gordon. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
