Grant Reed Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 11 to Mar. 10, 2019.
BELLVILLE: Grant Reed, 18, of Bellville, won his final victory over M*CH*G*N because it can never hurt him again. Grant gained his angel wings Sunday morning, February 10, 2019 after passing peacefully with his parents and brother by his side.

The son of Troy and Denise (Rinehart) Reed, Grant was born August 12, 2000 in Mansfield.

Over the past 6 years and 9 months, with extraordinary bravery, Grant battled brain cancer. "A man among men", Grant inspired more people in the past 6 years than most do in a lifetime. Through multiple surgeries, and countless chemotherapy treatments, Grant never felt sorry for himself. He did the very best he could at living the life of a teenage boy.

A student at Clear Fork High School, Grant was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a member of the Tech Team and served on student council. He was honored to be a delegate for Buckeye Boys State serving as "City Councilman of Balding City." Grant loved sports. He had played goalie on the soccer team and for the past 3 years was the team manager for the Clear Fork football team. Grant was a huge Ohio State Buckeyes fan, aptly naming the disease in which he fought to the very end M*CH*G*N. One of many great honors bestowed on Grant was earning his very own Gold Pants from the legendary Archie Griffin. He wore them proudly every game day.

Like nearly every teenage boy, Grant liked gaming. He'd connect with his friends and play Call of Duty Zombies and WWE.

Some of Grant's favorite times were spent laughing and joking with his family, preparing for parties and watching the game together.

Grant is survived by his parents Troy and Denise Reed of Bellville; brother Collin Reed of Bellville; his cat Buckeye; maternal grandparents Jack and Pam Rinehart of Findlay; paternal grandparents Robert and Jane Reed of Bellville; maternal great grandfather Raymond Predmore of Galion and aunts and uncles Ben and Kathryn Rinehart, Shlomo and Amanda Haviv, and Tim and Tonya Guinther; cousins Ian, Wes, Brooke, Jarrod, Clara, Liam, Tyler, Tanner, and Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandmother Eleanor Predmore and paternal great grandparents Helen Patman, Grant Lennington, Mona Reed and Gerald and Lois Rinehart.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 13, 2019 from 2-8 pm at Storyside Church (541 St. Rt. 97 West, Bellville, Ohio 44813), where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am. Pastors Patrick Bailey and Chaplain Link Briggs will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery. The Bellville Snyder Funeral Home is assisting the Reed family with funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Chance For Hope Foundation, may be made through the funeral home.

So sad to hear of Grant's passing, he was a brave young man and fought M*C*H*G*N hard. --Staff of Kids 'n Kamp.

Denise and family,

There are no words that I can speak to express my feelings over the loss of your amazing son. Grant and your family have been lights in a dark world. While I am grateful Grant is no longer in pain, and in a better place, I know the emptiness of losing a child is greater than any one can imagine. May you continue to feel the prayers and comfort being sent to you.
