Gregory J. Gamp Sr.

September 23, 1945 - November 26, 2024

Gregory J. Gamp Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on September 23, 1945, in New York, NY. Greg lived a life filled with service, accomplishment, and laughter.

Greg graduated from Santa Clara University, where he met his lifelong partner, Jane L. O'Hara. Their loving marriage was the foundation of a family that brought him immense pride.

After college, Greg served his country in the Vietnam War as a B-52 bomber pilot, led flight cells, earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for his bravery, and demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication.

Following his military career, Greg excelled in the insurance industry before shifting gears to become a successful real estate broker. His professional careers were marked by his talent for crafting win-win situations and empowering colleagues.

Even after retiring twice, his boundless energy found outlets in golf, reading, and music. Greg was proud to be involved with the VA and PGA Hope. His generosity touched many through his charitable giving and community involvement.

A man of diverse interests, Greg was a dedicated San Francisco Giants fan, gadget enthusiast, active in multiple book clubs, and a lover of classic R&B. He loved red wine, Italian sausages, jelly beans, orange slices, oatmeal cookies, vanilla ice cream, and lentils. He was also a fantastic dancer, an aficionado of B-grade horror, and a masterful storyteller.

Above all, Greg adored his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jane L. O'Hara Gamp, their five children and their spouses, Gregory and Vanessa Gamp, Patrick and Rita Gamp, Laural Gamp, Brian and Brianna Gamp, Kevin and Anna Lisa Gamp, and eight cherished grandchildren, Jordyn, Eden, Athena, Leo, Simone, Hayden, Lucca, and Harper. He also leaves behind five siblings and their spouses, Stephen and Kathy Gamp, Mary Ellen and Doug Peter, Nancy and Stan Brown and Judy McEvoy, who he valued deeply, along with his nieces and nephews. His family and countless friends and admirers will forever remember his humor and warmth.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held on January 11th, 2025.

Brian´s dad was such a loving father and grandfather. He was at Brian´s home for parties, and also we met him first at Brianna´s birthday party. I recall he very spoke about his travels and enjoyed spending time with his family. I remember being very impressed with his career in business transformations. Brian´s dad had a warm smile and I remember his love for family came out with every word he spoke. He shared how proud he is of his family.
