LYNAM
GREGORY JAMES
September 4, 1987 - March 28, 2017, age 29, of Altoona, lost his valiant struggle with drug addiction, dying suddenly on Tuesday, despite great hopes and fervent prayers for his recovery. Greg was born in Altoona to Mark and Michelle (Lytle) Lynam, who survive. Greg is also survived by his son, Eli Francis, at home; his sister, Kimberly (Sam) Lawther of Pittsburgh; and his paternal grandfather, Thomas C. Lynam. Greg was predeceased by his infant daughter and Eli's twin, Scarlett Jude; his maternal grandparents, Francis and Eileen (Kindness) Lytle and his paternal grandmother, Muriel (Finnerty) Lynam. Greg and Eli were, and continue to be, truly blessed, enjoying the love, support and encouragement of very close aunts, uncles and cousins. Greg graduated from Bishop Guilfoyle High School in 2005. He worked as a cook in several area restaurants. Greg, a true movie aficionado, also loved music of all genres and cooking for his parents and son. Quiet, unassuming, and kind, Greg will be remembered for his gentle and loving spirit and his beautiful sapphire-blue eyes. Eli was Greg's greatest love, pride and joy. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2017 at STEVENS MORTUARY, 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel. Committal in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to an educational fund established for Eli in care of Michelle Lynam, 814 Broadway, Altoona, PA 16601, or to Catholic Charities, 1300 12th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.

I will always remember Gregie as the chubby cheeked, bright blue eyed kid who was one of my first childhood friends. Greg and Kimmie were my unofficial Pennsylvania cousins and we went on adventures to the parks and wherever else Grandma Rita took us kids when I'd visit there for the summer. He was such a nice kid and I'm absolutely heartbroken over this sudden loss. May his wonderful family find strength and see his sparkle in Greg's precious son's eyes.

For all the families involved It is with a heavy heart that we lost another young person but the bravery of the the parents to state the fact of death is just amazing that at a point of time in their lives they try to educate, awake, and alert our kids about the addiction that has plaqued so many families and sad to say usually with this outcome. I have looked in the eyes of parents who struggle with a child that is addicted and the pain is unbearable to watch them go through this Greg is at peace and i know Scarlet took his hand and showed her daddy the kingdom of heaven So my prayers and condolences are to those left behind to mourn The could ofs should ofs and would ofs would have not made a differance. Be strong console each other and believe that God seen there was no other way for Greg God Bless all of you and thank you Michelle for your bravery of honesty I will pray for you and your family love ya
