I had this great man as a professor while at CMU in the mid-90's and have a picture of me and him from my graduation ceremony which I still treasure. He was kind, funny and fair and his class ranked as one of my favorite electives simply because he taught it! Rest In Peace my friend...

Dear Slaon family,
I was saddened to read of the death of your father. Growing up in Bellevue, I was aware of his contributions to the community. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Virginia and family,
It is with deepest sadness that I learned of your father's death. He lead a very full and long life serving others.
I have great memories of our growing up together in Bellevue. I often wondered where you were and how your family was doing. Your parents always tolerated our sleepovers at your house and even hosted all of us girls to watch the Beetles first performance in the U.S on the Ed Sullivan show. We screamed our heads off as crazy as the girls in the audience! Your parents watched it with us and must have had the laugh of their lives. Your home was always welcome to us. I am sorry I was unable to attend the service for your father.
May you have peace in his passing.

My deepest sympathies to the Sloan family. I was sad to read of Mr. Sloan’s passing in the online version of the Post Gazette. Although I live in Nürnberg, Germany now, memories of growing up in Bellevue always include the Sloan family. God bless all of you. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow.
