Helen G. Kudelka

Helen G. Kudelka (Bayer), 78, of Granite City, died at 1:06 p.m. on Sept. 23, 2008 at Gateway Regional Medical Center. She was born on Sept. 14, 1930 to George Bayer and Iva Bayer (Weaver). She married John J. Kudelka, Sr. on Aug. 28, 1948 in Granite City. She was previously employed as a Sales Clerk at Siebolds Bakery. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, John J. Kudelka, Jr. of Granite City, Ill., and Scott A. (Veronica) Kudelka, of Ark., two sisters, Leona Griffin of Granite City, Ill. and Alma Barnhardt, of Ark., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Dorothy Kowalk, Eleanor Sparks, Hattie L. Bayer, and one brother, George F. Bayer. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Sept. 26 at Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor David Fielding officiating. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sept. 25 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, Ill. Interment is in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, Ill. Memorials may be to the Parkinson's Association.
