Helen Pudlas Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from May 29 to May 30, 2009.
PUDLAS Helen Judith (nee Loch) On Monday, May 25, 2009, Helen won the battle she fought with grace and courage against cancer when she passed into glory and looked into the eyes of her Lord. Helen was born on December 15, 1923, in Kozar, Hungary and the family immigrated to Regina, Canada in 1927. There, they joined the Victoria Avenue Baptist church where at age five, Helen first met Arthur Pudlas who was to become her beloved husband of 57 years. Predeceased by Art, daughter Catherine, and grandson Matthew, Helen (Mom, Oma, Gros-Omi) was deeply loved and will be missed by her children, Kenneth (Gabriela), Charles (Debbie), and Barbara (Corrado), as well as eight grandchildren (and four spouses) and six great-grandchildren. Helen is also survived by her brother Henry Loch, sister and brother-in-law Betty and Ben Friesen, sister Ann Jeckel, sister and brother-in-law Edie and Al Bismeyer, and sister-in-law Ilse Pudlas, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, lifetime and recent friends. Helen will be fondly remembered for many reasons; she would want to be remembered for her faithfulness to her Lord Jesus Christ, to her husband and family, and to her church. Realizing her time on earth was short, she said with utter confidence, "This is not my demiseÇ it is my home-going!" She lived her faith. Funeral service Sunday, May 31, 2009 at 3:00 p.m., viewing commencing at 2:30, at Bethany Baptist Church, 22680 Westminster Highway, Richmond BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Matthew K. Pudlas Memorial Scholarship (No. 1804) at Trinity Western University. You are invited to sign the family's online memorial book of condolence at www.personalalternative.com Personal Alternative Funeral Services 604-859-5779

To: Ken, Barb and Chuck:
I would like you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have very found memories of your Mom and the times our youth group were guests in your parents' home. Your Mom was always happy and cheerful and she was a wonderful hostess. I remember very happy and enjoyable visits ini your family home. I was fortunate to be able to say hello to your Mom in person a little over a year ago, when my siblings and I were moving our parents to Evergreen. I am hoping we can meet at some reunion some day soon. Love and best wishes from, Bettina (formerly Betty Meier)
