Herbert Grant Elliott, 66, of Mesa, AZ, passed away in his daughter's home on Sunday, August 14, 2016 surrounded by some of his loved ones. Herb was born on October 13, 1949, in Hackensack, NJ to Milton H. Elliott and Eleanor Pounds Elliott. Herb served for 9 years in the US Air Force with a tour of duty in Viet Nam as a jet engine mechanic. He later became a jet engine Master instructor. Upon discharge from the service he earned his Associate Degree as a Landscape Architect and started his own business for several years and then went to work for Allied-Signal/Honeywell as an inspector. Herb is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lorraine Magnusson Elliott and three daughters: Alisa (Jacob) James, Crystal (Dan) Earl and Vanessa (Conrad) Robertson, 10 grandchildren and brothers Milton (Nancy) Elliott and Steven Elliott. He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Eleanor Elliott, stepmother, Harriet Ofner Elliott, sisters, Dale and Judy, step-sister, Jenny and granddaughter, Evelyn Earl. A special thank you to Rosalba's Adult Care Home for caring and loving Herb as a family for the last three years. Also to those at Suncrest Hospice for making this transition a little easier. Viewing will be held on Friday, August 19 from 6-8 pm at the LDS church building @ 1315 S. 24th St. in Mesa. Memorial service will be Saturday, August 20 @ 3 pm at same Church building.

I worked with Herb in the early 80's at Garrett now Honeywell. Herb took a group of us to his favorite hunting spot during deer season one year. He also was always up for a challenge. To this day I think of the time when he rode a bull at our company rodeo. Although he suffered an injury, we had something on Herb we would never let him forget. I will think of him and his funny antics always.
My The Lord be present during this time of grief and know one day we will all be together. Miss you Brother.

I love you the most! Thank you for all you have done with and for me. For being an amazing husband and father. You are the light of my life and we're the best choice I could have made for a husband. I am so grateful we will be an eternal family! I am happy for you, that you are out of your frail and painful body and are free of this world's body. See you on the other side where we will rejoice and share eternity together!

Met Herb in 1981 when he became my 2nd trainer at Garrett. Had many great times with him at work and out in the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. RIP Herb.
