Dear Gambill Family,
I am saddened to hear of your loss of your father and husband. It will be tough, but I pray that God will give you the comfort and support that you need to get through it. Mr. Gambill was a wonderful teacher for me at NEHS in the 80's. Just this week, I was telling my wife and children about his classes in high school and working on a computer for the first time. Gambill family, thank you for sharing your husband and daddy with so many people for so many years. He made such an impact. God Bless You!

Dear Sylvia, Josh, Katherine, and the rest of the family,

I am very saddened by Tommy's passing. He was a good friend to me and to many people, too numerous to mention. I have many memories of not only working with him at Northeast Middle School, but driving the bus for many of his T.A.G. field trips to Tishomingo State Park and Gulf Shores, Alabama. We had many adventures on those trips.
We also were good friends away from school, travelling to Alabama to take pictures, eating out many Friday nights, and enjoying great fellowship with all of you.
I can honestly say that without a doubt, Tommy enhanced my life. I will miss him greatly.

My prayers are with all of you !

Dear Mrs. Gambill and Family:
As were thousands of others, I too was a student of Mr. Gambill's. I was so sad when I saw his name among the ones who have left this life to begin a new life. He will be waiting for you all on the other side, having scoped out the terrain and have a full report for you when you get there! Your husband/father was so kind to me in my years at NEHS, but my first memory of him was at Parkview as a TAG teacher in the next class from me...he broke the news to our class about President Reagan being shot. I was so glad he was my teacher at NEHS! He taught me more than the ordinary teacher. He had a way of getting his students to "think outside the box," and for this I will be eternally greatful. My prayers are with you during this time, but remember, he would not want you to be sad! I will keep you in my prayers!

My dear Sylvia and family, I am so very sorry and saddened to know you have lost Tommy. I can remember the same thing 2 years ago happening to me and remember that you were there for me. I am so very sorry I can't be there for you now, but I certainly have you in my prayers. May the good Lord give you the strength and understanding to proceed as a family knowing that Tommy is so much better now. He is completely healed and watching over all.

Mr. G just wasn't my teacher, he was a mentor to me during a really difficult time in my life. He could see a side of me none of my other teachers did and he encouraged me that there were better things out there for me - and he was right!
Mr. G gave me the honor of being the first editor of the school newspaper. He taught me how to use a computer and really helped me understand fast food menus by running tests on french fries and hashbrowns. He encouraged my interest in the arts. He attended my shows at MLT and let me write a play instead of a short story for an assignment.
There hasn't been a day go by that I haven't used something Mr. G taught me. If you were a student of his, I bet the same is true for you as well. Much love.

Mr. Gambill was my TAG teacher in middle school at Magnolia. I have so many fond memories of him, and how he made learning fun, even when he tricked us into biting into not-yet-ripe persimmons as we mapped out the lower lake at Bonita with 50-ft. lengths of rope. He remains my favorite teacher, and I'll be 40 this year!
For his family, thank you for supporting him in his quest to challenge and inspire young minds. He made a tremendous difference! God bless you all.

When checking the Meridian Star today, I was saddened to see Mr. Gambill's name. I have looked for him repeatidly through the years as he was my TAG teacer in the late 70's and early 80's. So sad to hear this news. What a great man who left such a lasting impression on many. I touched my first computer with him. I also saw him drive a school bus with only a first and third gear to all the way to Tishimingo county. May the Lord bless you and keep you all in the days to come.

I was one of Mr. Gambill's students at NEHS in the 80's. He was very funny and kind, and I liked going to his class! I am thankful for his gift in teaching. Please accept my sympathies.

I am so sorry for the loss of Tommy. He was truly an amazing man whom I admired greatly.
I was blessed to have the opportunity to eat lunch with Tommy every day at Northeast Middle School for two years. I looked forward every day to hearing what was going on with him and his take on current events.
When he announced he was retiring a few years ago I begged him to stick around. To no avail. NEMS lost one of its best teachers that year. His absence was felt all around. Now the loss is so much more. He will be missed.
