Irene Lousteau Poche passed away Monday, August 20, 2012 at her home, fighting till the end of her three year struggle with cancer. She was 66. She was a native and resident of Gramercy. She is survived by her daughter, Shannon Poche, a son, Raymond Poche, and daughter-in-law, Ginger D. Poche. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond "Ray" Poche, Jr. and her parents, Lee and Bertha Lousteau. She will be greatly missed by her three grandchildren: Philip, Sydney, and Ruston Poche. Irene was a retired registered nurse who worked for her good friends Drs. K.E. and Leya Mathew. Many thanks to them and her longtime friends, Cathy Coppenex and Carissma Torres for helping her through life. Irene had the gift of music. She could write songs, play music, and sing. She sang at countless events, weddings, funerals, and masses. Her beautiful voice could bring tears of joy to those who heard her sing. Words cannot truly describe her generosity and being. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Rose Lynn Funeral Services, 1870 Cabanose Ave., Lutcher, LA. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, LA at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery, Paulina, LA. Our sincerest condolences to Irene's family. She was a lovely person. My mom loved her to pieces and we used to enjoy her singing in church.
