Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 24 to Feb. 25, 2010.
STUHR Irwin R. "Stu" Stuhr, 86, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at Riverside Hospital. He was born April 26, 1923 and raised in Rochester, New York, the son of Louise and John Stuhr. Dad married the love of his life, Miriam Jane Street on April 27, 1950. Mom preceded him in death in 2006. Upon graduating from high school Dad entered active duty as an aviation cadet in March 1942. Dad served a distinguished, decorated 30-year career in the Air Force, serving in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He later worked for Boeing in Tehran, Iran, and the Seattle area of Washington State. In 1981, Mom and Dad returned to Columbus, Ohio. Dad was the consummate gentleman, someone who radiated kindness, generosity of spirit, and warmth. He will be missed beyond measure by his three children, John F. Stuhr and his wife, Karen, Richard W. Stuhr and his wife, Eileen Woods, and Patricia A. (Stuhr) Somdalen and her husband, David; grandchildren, Matthew R. Stuhr and Lauren M. Stuhr; and great-grandchildren, Tyler J. Stuhr and Anthony J. Matheny. A gathering will take place to celebrate Dad's life at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, at 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, on Friday, February 26, from 3-5 p.m. Visit www.schoedinger.com to share a favorite memory of Stu.

John, Richard and Patty:

You are a very special family whom we have been honored to know. Our thoughts cannot express how deeply we feel for the loss of your wonderful and inspiring mother and now your father. We wish we could have been with you to share our sympathy for your father's demise. All of our family's thoughts are with you. We wish you the blessing of knowing that shared life given by wonderful parents and that you will be comforted in the days to come with that thought.

With warmest thoughts,

The family of Pat Vaughan

Stu was our cherished friend and neighbor. We grew to love him dearly and we will miss him so much. Wonderful times are how we remember someone and boy do we have some wonderful times to remember. Like the day Stu helped Larry install the peg board in his garage. Stu was the design engineer and Larry was the construction crew. They got it done even if it meant four trips to Home Depot to get all the parts. Or like the time Stu, Patty, and Marcia spent the day going to the Mansfield Reformatory (it's haunted you know) only to find out it was closed for the day. But they still found happiness when Patty and Marcia rode the Carousel at the Carousel Museum. Stu just laughed, took pictures, and shook his head in watching two "grown kids" giggle and have fun.

Love you Stu,

Larry and Marcia

Rich,
I have often thought of Mim and Stu over the years. Mim's purest of voices and hearts, Stu's strength, leadership and humor. My prayers and best wishes to you and your family.
