John and I offer our sincerest condolences to the family of Dr. Ivan Miller. Ivan was a gifted student of ours at Gettysburg College. Years later I was fortunate to benefit from his compassionate care and medical expertise as he was my orthopedic surgeon. Please accept our prayerful and deepest sympathy.

Miller time inspired me to be not only a better provider, but a better person. Our time together in the OR/clinic was short- but I'll treasure it forever! He may have been a little rough around the edges- but once you got to know him- he was a compassionate, dedicated, hardworking individual. He was truly a rarity in terms of physicians- he cared about each and every single patient of his.
We became quite close this past year- sharing his love for his granddaughter and his swans. He was so grateful for Faye who took him to every appointment. He is truly missed by many- but I am certain he is looking down upon us all with that infamous smirk on his face and his comment to that would be either: probably not or doubt that!
The Miller Family- I am truly sorry for your loss.

I was very saddened to hear of Dr. Miller's death, especially so soon after his retirement. He was a great surgeon and a caring physician. As a Gettysburg High School teacher, I knew his children and he always spoke proudly of them when I asked about them during my office visits. At one of my last visits I told him that he had actually changed my life and that I respected his skill and appreciated everything that he did for me. I extend my sympathy to his family with the hope that the knowledge of the help he has given so many people provides some comfort at this difficult time..

Dr. Miller was a brilliant, caring doctor and a wonderful man. It was obvious to those around him that he cared deeply about both his patients and his family. He could be a very quiet man, but when you were able to get through that he could hold a long conversation and share his wonderful sense of humor. In the years of working with him, he taught me so much that has remained with me as I have furthered my nursing career and I am forever grateful. I think of him often when those moments occur when I remember what he taught me, and will continue to do so. Condolences to his family. I hope there are swans in heaven.

Dear Miller Family, My dear husband, John Carson, who died June of this year was so saddened to hear that his compatriot was ill. I just read today that your dearest husband, Dad and Granddad died. John liked him so much as a friend. He admired his skills as a surgeon and referred him often. God bless you and keep you all in his tender loving care. Cathy Carson

Ivan was a wonderful physician/surgeon whose patients were of the utmost importance to him. He was also a genuinely good man. It was a little hard to get to know him but if you earned his trust, you had a friend for life. After working with him for 25 years I count him as my dear friend and I'll miss him terribly. Love you all.

My thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Ivan's whole family. I had my knee replaced 2 1/2 years ago by Dr. Ivan and he was a quiet man at first but the more visits I had the more he was excited to talk to my husband and I about his retirement and how much he was looking forward to hunting and fishing. He was also excited to spend time with his family. I was in for a visit right before he retired and he was soooo looking forward the most to not have a pager and have to be interrupted!!!! He will be missed by ALL of us who had the pleasure of having Dr. Ivan as our Dr. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Dr. Miller- The world was a better place with you in it. You taught me everything I know about orthopaedics and I miss you tremendously. I pray that you are now free from pain and running with the angels. I will never forget you and your compassion for your patients. Faye, Chris, Brett, Ashley, and family, sending you many thoughts and prayers that your memories make the days ahead a little less painful. Your husband/dad was one of a kind and so proud of each of you. He spoke so highly of each of you and he lit up a room telling stories about his family. God Bless you all!
