Family and friends gathered together for the service at St Mary's Church, Sutton, which preceded burial at the town's cemetery of life-long local resident Mr John Keith Bamford (67), of Carsic Road.
Born at Unwin Road, Sutton, Mr Bamford was educated at the local Hillocks, Hardwick Street Juniors and Eastbourne Secondary Modern schools, and in 1956 began work at Summit Colliery. Ten years later he was employed on coal delivery for Silverhill Colliery, later transferring to Digby's, retiring through ill health in 1983.
Mr Bamford, who had loved annual holidays at Mablethorpe since 1976, also enjoyed spending time at home with his family and loved rides out in his car with his wife, music and sport, especially cricket. His other interests included doing crosswords and Sudoku puzzles.
Mr Bamford, who died at his home, leaves his wife, Mrs Margaret Rose Bamford, three sons, two daughters, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, five granddaughters and six grandsons.

Floral tributes and donations for the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institute), were from the above mourners and other family and friends.
The service was conducted by the Rev T. Mitchell, and arrangements were by K. Gregory & Sons Ltd.
