J. Eddie Tigner, 51, of Collierville, Tennessee died September 6, 2011 at Methodist Germantown Hospital. A graduate of West Side High School class of ’78, Mr. Tigner also graduated from the University of Memphis. He was also very active in the Tennessee Jaycees (where he met his wife Sharon) and was the State President from 1990 1991. He was a member of Central Church where he was an usher and very active in the children’s and prison ministry. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Poplar Avenue. Funeral services will be held at Central Church, 2005 Winchester Blvd., Collierville, TN on Friday, September 9 beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery (formerly Memory Hill Gardens). Mr. Tigner was preceded in death by his father James Monroe Tigner and brother Jackie Tigner. He is survived by his wife Sharon C. Tigner; daughters Jessie and Rachel Tigner; mother Cora Jean Tigner; sisters Jenny Stafford and June Horn; and brother Jerry Tigner. The family requests donations are made to the American Lung Association or Central Church. I'll miss Eddie. I trained him at Fedex about Logos (the maintenance computer system). I don't know how he ever finished anything with all those trips to Nashville, etc. for the Jaycees. We had the same birthdays 2/17.
