Jack Coker III Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 16, 2024.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leon Jackson "Jack" Coker III, who passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, at a hospital in Springdale, Arkansas. Jack was 68 years old and is survived by his three children: Leon Jackson Coker IV (Milinda) of Texarkana, Texas; Neely Coker of Champaign, Illinois; and Holly Coker Johnson (Jesse) of Bentonville, Arkansas. He was also the proud grandfather of three grandchildren: Delayne, Landon, and Elizabethe Coker, all of Texarkana, Texas.

Jack is also survived by his brother, Mike Coker (Jane) of Tyler, Texas, and his nephew, Hartley Coker (Brooke) of Coppell, Texas. His loyal Labrador Retriever, Maggie, was also by his side throughout the last 12 years, providing him with much comfort and companionship. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Jackson Coker Jr. and Patricia Craig Coker.

Jack was born at Jacksonville Air Force Base in Jacksonville, Arkansas, on July 4, 1956. He was a 1974 graduate of Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas, and soon after he joined the family business, working at Coker Buick, where he learned the ins and outs of the automobile industry. His passion for his profession led him to relocate to Austin, Texas. His love for people and commitment to excellent service made him a well-respected figure in the automobile field.

Later in life, Jack relocated to Lindale, Texas, where he worked as a landman in the oil and gas industry. This career shift allowed him to indulge his passion for history, a subject he deeply appreciated, as well as his curiosity about the land and its rich stories. Jack's diverse career paths reflected his adaptability and enthusiasm for new challenges, always with a strong work ethic and a genuine respect for those he worked with.

Jack lived a full and adventurous life, with a deep passion for the outdoors. Jack enjoyed fishing and spending time on the Texas Gulf Coast, where he spent many years. A true adventurer at heart, he embraced the beauty and serenity of nature, always seeking new places to explore. Jack's spirit will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service to honor Jack's life will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Spring Hill Cemetery, 284 Co Rd 4212, Naples, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Coastal Conservation Association in Jack's memory.

Jack was my first used car manager. I still have the piece of calculator tape with the mechanics of the pay plan written on it. Easiest explanation I ever received. Jack was a good guy. My condolences to the family.
