Jack Hatley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 6, 2012.
Jack M. Hatley
ROBIN - On March 2, 2012, the world lost a very special man. He was a great friend, neighbor, and family man. Born August 30, 1929, in Pocatello, Idaho, Jack Milton Hatley was the son of Fred H. and Rachel Josephine Norton Hatley.
Jack was raised in Arbon Valley in the Mercer Creek area and as a young boy, attended school at the Mercer Elementary School. He later graduated from Arimo High School, class of 1948. He began farming in Arbon and Robin and from 1948 to 1988 worked side by side with his stepfather, Herman Krueger. He married Rhonda Marley on December 21, 1951, in Pocatello and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
For a short time he was employed with P.F.E. Jack ranched and farmed in Robin for many years. He had the gift of gab and enjoyed visiting with friends neighbors, family and anyone else he met. He loved the farm and also travelling. Jack made new friends wherever he went and loved telling them stories. The story telling has ended, but his tales will live on and on. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Jack is survived by his wife, Rhonda Hatley of Robin; 4 children: Scott Hatley of Lava Hot Springs; Sheldon (Cheryl) Hatley of Robin; Starla Smith of Dingle, Idaho; and Sharalea Pewtress os Pocatello; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters; 1 brother, Gary (Judy) Krueger of Idaho Falls; and a sister, Elaine (Delmar) Cammack of Castledale, Utah. Also surviving is a foster daughter, Rita Merillo of Pocatello.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Herman Krueger. Jack will truly be missed by many. "We love you, Pops"

Starla,
I never had the pleasure of meeting your father, but I can tell through your actions and wit that he must have been a wonderful father. May you be comforted and feel of God's love for you and your family at this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Teresa (Andrews) Moore

Jack Hatley was an amazing father-in-law, in the nine years that I knew him. He counseled me many times and shared many wonderful stories of this life. Unfortunately, months before his passing, my best friend and I (Scott Hatley) had to end our marriage, and through Jack's counseling, I was able to step aside, not without pain of having to do so, and move on in life. Scott Hatley, son of Jack Hatley was a wonderful son to Jack, and Jack loved him dearly, as did I. Scott is no longer living in Lava Hot Springs, but has moved on to Boulder, Wyoming.

Jack, my friend, my mentor - you will be sorely missed!

Dear Rhonda, Starla, and Family -- Thank you for including me in your home so many times while in Jr. and Sr. High. I and grateful that I had the opportunity to experience some of the wit and humor and stories that Jack had to share. I am truly sorry for your loss. I understand the heavy feelings of the heart as a loved one is laid to rest and they move just beyond our touch. Remember that throug the great plan of salvation we can be together again as a family. Know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Keep the faith and hope shining in your hearts. Thanks again for your love and support through the years. Love Norell
