Jack Parrish Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 30, 2023.
Jack Owens Parrish, 88, of Sarasota, FL, passed away on July 18, 2023. He was born on June 18, 1935, in Jacksonville, Florida, and was raised in the projects by his grandmother. Jack's life was filled with love and adventure. He met his first wife, Kathryn Dolores, on a blind date and they were married just six weeks later. Jack briefly served in the army reserves before embarking on a new journey. In 1972, he and Kathryn moved to Sarasota to start their own restaurant chain, Western Sizzlin Steak House. Jack was a visionary entrepreneur who dedicated himself to the success of his business.

When he wasn't working hard, Jack indulged in his passion for collecting cars. His garage was a testament to his love for classic automobiles. He and Dolores also enjoyed playing tennis and were active members of the Field Club, where Jack served on the Board at one point.

After Kathryn passed away, Jack found love again and married his second wife, Lynda Gayle. Together, they explored the world, traveling to various destinations. However, as health issues arose, their adventures had to come to an end.

Jack will be deeply missed by his daughter, Kimberly Jasch, and his grandchildren, Siara, McKayla, Anniston, Daltyn, Devyn, and Landyn. He is also survived by his half-brother, Jules Kirchain, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jack was preceded in death by his father, Robert Nash Parrish, his mother, Cathron Kirchain, his first wife, Kathryn Dolores Parrish, and his second wife, Lynda Gayle Parrish.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Jack will take place on August 19, 2023, from 5 to 8 pm at the Rooftop Treehouse @ Raffurty's, located at 1888 Main Street, Sarasota, FL, 34236.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to a charitable organization of your choice in Jack's memory.

Jack lived a remarkable life filled with love, adventure, and accomplishments. He will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, his love for cars, and his dedication to his family. May his soul rest in peace.
