JAMES ALAN DAUM HAMMOND, IN James Alan Daum of Hammond, IN passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at age 66. James is survived by his sister, Marianne (late Ted) Comstock along with nieces Karen Comstock, Kelly Comstock and nephew Kraig Comstock. He was very proud of his grand niece Chloe Miller, grand nephews Nicholas Enoch and Bradley Miller. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Chester and Mary Daum and his brother, Irvin J. Daum. James was retired from Youngstown Sheet and Tube where he worked as a welder. He later worked for the Bargain Finder Newspaper in Hammond, IN and finished his working years as a Computer Network Manager at Insulation Fabricators in Hammond, IN. James was a graduate of Highland High School and accomplished many courses in his field of computers and other interests. James was well read and could discuss in valid detail practically any subject that would come up in conversation. His hobby was clowning and he performed at many charitable functions as Farfo, the clown. His expertise was making animal and toy balloons for the children. James enjoyed studying law, computers, gardening, bird watching, nature hikes and was an avid animal lover. He loved local theatre and was a season subscriber to many. His preferred transportation was his scooter. A memorial will be held in his honor at Westminster Presbyterian Church at 8955 Columbia Avenue, Munster, IN 46321 at 11:00 a.m. February 11, 2017. A luncheon will follow at the church. Memorial contri- butions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian church or to the Humane Society Calumet Area at 421 45th Avenue, Munster, IN 46321 or your favorite charity in lieu of flowers. www.burnskish.com

If this is the same James Daum that dated joy in the 70's, he was one of the most read people that I have ever met. I have lived in Colorado since the late 70s and lost touch with Jim. He was a very unique person that was unforgettable. May he rest in peace---
