James Kilgore Obituary

WISE – James Daniel Ernest Kilgore Jr., 58, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 24, 2005.
Better known as Danny, he served as chief of police for the Town of Wise until 1981, served as chief of security at VIC Coal Company until 1984, became an attorney in 1984 until 1991, when he became disabled, and was a member of the Wise Masonic Hoge Lodge No. 8 A.F. & A.M. of Wise.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Daniel Ernest Kilgore Sr.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Damron Kilgore; two sons, Chris Kilgore of Norton and Sean Kilgore of Pound, Va.; his mother, Carrie Bates Kilgore; two stepsons, Randy Damron of Pensacola, Fla., and Michael Richardson of Sarasota, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Dawneeta Lambert of Lebanon and Kimberly Sexton of Glade Spring; three step-grandsons; and five step-granddaughters.
Funeral services for Danny Kilgore will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2005, at the Sturgill Funeral Home Chapel in Wise, with Dr. Ray Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, Va. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, where Masonic Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. by the Hoge Lodge No. 8 of Wise.
Pallbearers will be members of the Hoge Masonic Lodge No. 8 of Wise and honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Wise County Sheriff's Department and the Town of Wise Police Department chief and officers. Sturgill Funeral Homes in Wise is in charge of arrangements.
