James Woodward Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 4, 2025.
James Lewis Woodward, 77, passed away on April 1, 2025, in Oakdale, Minnesota after a long battle with COPD. Born on December 11, 1947, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his precious son, Jason Lewis. Jim was the beloved husband of Patricia for 50 years, and a devoted father to Megan (Matthew Schmidt). He found immense joy in being a grandfather to Noah (20), Amelia (18), Peter (17), Caroline (15), Ethan (12), & Olive (3).

Jim was a long-time member of the West Bank Motorcycle Club; he found freedom and fellowship on the open road. Whether riding alongside friends or sharing stories over a drink; Jim valued connection and camaraderie. He was a gifted craftsman with a passion for building, tinkering, and pottery. His hands were always busy shaping something meaningful; his heart always engaged in supporting those around him.

Jim's warmth, humor, and quiet wisdom were constants in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. He was not one for grand declarations but rather showed his love through presence, patience, and an ever-steady hand.

A private gathering will be held at a later date to honor Jim's life and legacy. If you would like to make a donation in Jim's memory, please consider giving to The Pillars Hospice Home. They provided exceptional care and upheld his dignity during the last days of his life. www.beyondhospicemn.org/donate

You taught me how to swim. You were the reason I learned to love pottery. I get my need to oversalt my French fries from you. Grandpa we love you so much and miss you daily.

He was my big brother. We didn´t stay as close as we should have. But he was my big brother and I was his little sister.

My dad LOVED his family and was so incredibly proud of each of us. Olive was his buddy and she is missing her grandpa so so much. As she says, her feelings are hurting so bad right now. The last pic with my mom was taken just days before his last breath. He was joking and smiling through the pain. A truly special guy.
