James M. Zastrow, 91, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Private family services are planned.
James was born in Garrison, Iowa and lived most of his life in Waterloo. He moved to Tucson, AZ in 1984 and returned to Urbandale in early 2009. He was a member of the Elks, Masons, Shrine and was active as a Shrine clown.
James is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty; three sons, Scott (Linda) Zastrow of Urbandale and their children, granddaughter, Kelly (Dan) DeCarlo and great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brooke and Elizabeth DeCarlo, grandson, James (Nicole) Zastrow and great-grandchildren, Kennady Loffredo and Hayden Zastrow; son Richard (Holly) Zastrow of Tucson, AZ; son, Kim (Janelle) Zastrow of Grantsburg, WI and their children, Kristin, Mariah and Austin; and a sister, Pat Hand of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Nona (Cole) Zastrow and a baby daughter, Marcene.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Mercy Hospice.
