1972 - 2012
Surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, July 23rd, 2012, in hospital after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 40 years. Beloved mother of Grace and dearest daughter of Dilys Williams and the late Philip Laverance. Cherished sister of Andrew (Becky), Chris and Jamie. Treasured aunt of Callum, Graeme and Cora. Janet will also be missed and fondly remembered by her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at the Pinecrest Visitation Centre, 2500 Baseline Road on Thursday, July 26th and Friday, July 27th from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church, Aylmer (101 Symmes, Aylmer, QC) on Saturday, July 28th at 11 a.m. For those wishing, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ottawa Humane Society. My dear cousin Janet, a year has passed and our family is not the same without you. I remember so clearly our last conversation, just two weeks before you left us. I had no idea it would be the last time I would hear your lovely voice. I too, will keep my promise to you. We all love you and miss you. We talk about you often and share our memories of you and Grace, of what an amazing mom you were, your endless love for Grace and how she adored you. You and Grace are always with us and part of our family forever. I will be forever grateful to have had such a wonderful cousin.

My Dearest Daughter,
The year has gone by so quickly, it will be a year tomorrow since you left us. I think of you and your beautiful daughter Grace all the time and you are both forever in my heart. I know you are watching over us and with us in spirit. You will be so pleased with the beautiful Weeping Willow Tree that was planted in your memory yesterday at your Uncle Doug's in Woodlawn. It is on the little island that you just loved and in the perfect place to get the sun. I know you will be so happy because you so loved going there were you found it so peaceful, and tranquil. Uncle Doug and Brian picked it out just for you and we all gave a hand in planting it.
Words cannot express how much we all love you and Grace and miss you both. You are both so loved by family and friends and sadly missed.
You will be forever remembered dearest Janet for the Bright Star you are and for the great love you gave to the many who were forunate enough to know you (especially wee Grace).

Janet,
It has been nearly a year since you left. I know that you are in a better place where you are suffering no longer.
I want you to know that Grace is doing amazing and is very healthy and happy in her new home. She says her prayers every night before bed and tells you of her days accomplishments. She has truly developed into quite a little character in the past year……she puts a smile on everyone's face that comes into contact with her. I am so very proud of her.
She speaks of you and asks questions from time to time but always in a very happy positive way. She loves you and will always remember you, this I promise. Please watch over Grace and keep her safe.

I was fortunate to become Janets friend through the local womens soccer team. We became instant pals and shared many many good happy times together. I will deeply miss my firend and am devestated by by the loss of her life and the pain her family are enduring. Her smile and life will live on in Grace. Too good and too young.

I was a school friend of Phil in Hull, Yorkshire many years ago. He was instrumental in my coming to Canada. In our early married years we would visit the Laverance family in Ottawa and they us in Kingston. I was saddened to hear last night from an old friend in Ottawa that Janet had died. Her photo reminds me of her fathers sisters I met in Scotland years ago. Our prayers and thoughts are for Dilys, Andrew, Chris and Jamie at this very difficult time.

I am so terribly sad today. Janet was my best childhood friend. I remember reading stacks of Mr. Men books, playing with her hamster (I was never allowed to have one, so this was wonderful), walking her dog Mitzi, dancing and doing hula hoops, tennis at Thunderbird, soccer (she was always a much better player than I) - then high school with frosted lipstick, teased hair & spiral perms, our grad trip to Daytona Beach, and that amazing red & black dress she wore to prom. We lost touch in our adult years after I moved away for University and to Europe. I am so happy she had a beautiful little girl & I am certain Janet was the most wonderful mom. My heart aches for this lovely person, a dear friend, taken far too soon. I am so sorry, but also so grateful for her life and the wonderful memories that she gave to me. God bless you sweet Janet.
