Janice Parker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2025.
Janice Marie "Granny" Parker, born Janice Marie Jones on March 25, 1946, in Smithfield, North Carolina, passed away on August 17, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 79.

Janice lived a life defined by fierce love, unwavering loyalty, and an indomitable spirit. Known affectionately as "Granny," she was a pillar of strength for her family and all who knew her. Her courage and determination were evident throughout her life and especially in her final moments. When faced with a difficult medical decision in the hospital, Janice looked her doctor squarely in the eye and declared without hesitation: "I want to live every minute I can. I want my 10 minutes of CPR!" That moment captured the essence of who she was-a fearless warrior of life who never backed down from a challenge.

She is survived by her three sons: Hubert Daniel Parker, Jay Shannon Parker, and Jonathan Gabriel Parker. Her love extended deeply to her two grandchildren, Angel Anne Parker and Uriel Dorothy Parker, with whom she shared many cherished moments-especially in the kitchen. Cooking wasn't just a hobby for Janice; it was a way to connect with those she loved most. She delighted in passing down recipes and culinary wisdom to her grandbabies, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.

Janice also found joy in playing bingo and following the NASCAR circuit with passionate enthusiasm. Watching races was an event in itself-her reactions were legendary when her favorite drivers were knocked out or wrecked. Her spirited commentary made every race day unforgettable.

Beyond hobbies and pastimes, Janice's defining trait was her fierce protectiveness over those she loved. If she believed someone close to her was being mistreated or deceived, she would not hesitate to speak up-and act. She fought tirelessly for others, often putting their needs above her own without question or complaint.

Stubborn yet loving, bold yet nurturing-Janice embodied contradictions that made her unforgettable. Her presence filled every room she entered with warmth and fire alike.

May the memory of Janice Marie "Granny" Parker bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched so deeply and the strength she instilled in those around her.
