Jay Steven Bunt, 43, went home to be with our Lord and Savior while surrounded by family and friends on November 10, 2009, after a brief battle with cancer. He was born December 15, 1965, in Longview to Jerry and Janice Bunt.
Services for Jay will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009, at Rader Funeral Home in Longview, followed by interment in Noonday Cemetery in Hallsville.
Jay graduated from Pine Tree High School in 1984, where he played defense on the inaugural Pine Tree soccer team. He furthered his education by attending and graduating from SFA in 1991 with a degree in Advertising and Communications. He was last employed with KSA Engineering in Longview. Jay was also a member of Pine Tree Church of Christ.
Jay loved sports and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers. He was also a collector of many things! He loved coins, old cars, movies and music. He enjoyed camping, fishing and being outdoors. But most of all, he loved being with his family, and hanging out with good friends.
Jay had a smile that was warm and would light up any room, you always knew Jay was around, because there were stories, laughter and joy. Jay touched many lives during his short time on earth and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, Jerry and Janice Bunt of Longview, Jay is also survived by his grandmother, Gladys Atteberry of Carrollton; his brothers and their wives, Jeff and Debra Bunt of Gladewater, and Jody and Janell Bunt of Carrollton; nieces and nephews, Alex and Addison Bunt of Carrollton, Danny Cater of Gladewater, and Jennifer Cater of Tyler; his aunts, Jeanette Jones of Hallsville, Lana Kline and her husband Morris of Humble, and Joanne Grimm and her husband Charles of Whitney; great-nieces, Katie and Lyndzie Reed of Tyler; and numerous cousins. Jay is also survived by his dog, Rudy and devoted friend, Sandra Turner.

Jeff and family, I'm really sorry to hear of Jay's passing. I know in time you will remember the many good times spent with your brother and son. I know the passing of Jeff has brought back many good memories to Aaron and I. The lasting memory is of Jay and Jeff as the true meaning of "BROTHERS".
God Bless
