Jeffrey Robert Begley, aged 66, of Studio City, CA passed away on March 29, 2024, in Los Angeles, California. He was born on July 8, 1957 in Indianapolis, IN. Jeffrey was a Senior Software Engineer at TRW and Northrop Grumman for over 25 years. He also served as a civilian contractor on the Independent Readiness Review Team for the US Air Force Space and Missile Command, focusing on Directed Energy Missile Defense. He relocated to White Sands Missile Range for over two years to enhance and debug software during live fire exercises.

Jeffery attended primary school in Pendleton Indiana and was the Co-Valedictorian of his class at Pendleton Heights High School. He attended college at the University of Oregon and graduated from Indiana University with a degree in Mathematics. He achieved his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in 2009, and was a member of MENSA.

Jeffery was a great human being who touched the lives of many people with his bright light, intelligence, and joy. He was loved and respected by all the people who knew him as he traveled his path through life.

Jeffrey was known for his adventurous spirit, from bicycling to rock climbing, and was described as the smartest person in the room by those who knew him. Despite his quiet and introspective nature, he had a great sense of humor. He was a Computer Scientist who sang with the Sacred Harp group and traveled the country for events during his retirement years. Jeffrey served Sacred Harp as the Los Angeles Region Chairman in 2013. In his free time, he enjoyed judging science fairs at local, state, and national levels.

He is survived by his loving wife, Arieta Begley, and siblings: Brian, Benjamin, Diane, Beverly, Kerri, and Devon. Jeffrey was preceded in death by his father, Robert Begley, stepmother Linda Begley, mother Janet Davis, and stepfather Richard Davis. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to City of Hope, Duarte, California, through www.cityofhope.org. Jeffrey's legacy will live on through his contributions to the field of software engineering and his passion for adventure and community involvement.
