Joe Blankenship Obituary

Memorial services for Joe S. Blankenship Jr., 78, Tyler, were held 11 a.m. Saturday at Stewart Family Funeral Home, Tyler, with Bro. Bob Logan officiating.

Mr. Blankenship died July 10, 2008, at a Tyler hospice.

He was born on Oct. 16, 1929, in Mart to the late Joe Stevenson Blankenship Sr. and Ida Mae Graham. He lived in Palestine for 15 years before moving to Tyler three years ago. He retired from Central Bus Company in 1988 after 18 years service, and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church of Palestine.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Claudia Greenwood Blankenship, Tyler; sons, Joe S. Blankenship III, Port Aransas, Dale Blankenship, Beeville, Johnny Blankenship, Bullard, and David Blankenship, Eureka Springs, Ark.; sister, Doris Cranford; brother, Gene Blankenship; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, 75701.
