Carpenter, John Henry "Jack"

Webster: Born February 7, 1931; passed peacefully on July 20th, 2014 with his children by his side. Jack was principal at State Road Elementary School in Webster, NY from 1968 until he retired in 1990. In the summer months, when he wasn't tending to his large vegetable garden, Jack might be found tinkering in his garage, at Mayer's Marina, driving cross country with his trailer in tow and a car full of kids, or most recently, at a local restaurant, on Fridays for the Breakfast Club. Jack met Jean Basso at Brockport State University's Teacher College; they married in 1956; she predeceased him in March 2012. Jack is survived by his children, Amy Carpenter of Geneseo, NY, Virgina Carpenter (Kris Boesch) of Gray, Saskatchewan and John Carpenter (Elizabeth Landry) of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Jenna, Jylelle and Lilla Carpenter-Boesch of Saskatchewan, Canada and Anica Pearl Landry Carpenter of Seattle; special friend, Mildred Vanhoover.

Friends may call Saturday, 10 AM-12 PM and 2-4 PM at the funeral chapel (1031 Ridge Road) where a Memorial Service will follow at 4 PM. Memorial donations may be made to The National War Plane Museum, PO Box 185, 3489 Big Tree Lane, Geneseo, NY 14454. Dear Amy, Ginny, John, and families,
My heartfelt condolences to you all.
Your dad was a special man - and my all-time favorite teacher. Mr. Carpenter made fifth grade at Bay Road School a fabulous year of learning and fun.
Years later, I had the privilege of working for Jack at State Road School (when John was there). Jack was a very supportive principal and, again, created a wonderful working/learning atmosphere. He was a dear person.
Jack frequently talked about his family; he loved you all dearly!
I am so sorry for your loss.

I first knew Jack through his daughter, Ginny, She played soccer for me at Schroeder HS. As soccer parents both he and his wife were loyal , supportive parents. It wasn't until later that I learned that Jack was an administrator in the Webster School District. We worked together on a number of projects all focused on his love of his students. His reputation was that of a caring, loving and loyal man. He will be missed.

Jack was my 5th grade teacher at Bay Rd and a good one. We've remained friends through all these years and have had several wonderful conversations . My heartfelt condolences to your entire family. He was one of Webster's best.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I have so many fond memories of the wonderful State Road days. Your dad was a special educator. I would see him often and he always had a smile and a story to tell. I am away so will not be able to express my condolences. Treasure all the memories and remember how proud your dad was of all of you.
