JOHN B. CURCIO

John Baptist Curcio passed away peacefully at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Queens on Wednesday February 20, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 16, 1943 in Forest Hills to proud parents Mary (Nobiletti) and Louis Anthony Curcio.

Beloved fiancé to Caroline Keane. Loving father to Laura Jane Curcio and her husband Jay Springer and Louis Anthony Curcio and his wife Gabrielle (Valente); adored grandfather to Lilia Suau and Tess and Luca Curcio. Devoted brother to Marylou Curcio Szabo and Linda Basilice-Hoerrner.

John received his High School diploma from Horace Mann, his Bachelor's Degree from Georgetown University, and his Law Degree from St. John's University. He was an attorney for the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. In 1983, he and his family relocated to Lansing, Michigan and he became a partner in the law firm of Dykema Gossett. In 1996 he returned to New York where he became the Deputy General Counsel for the Long Island Railroad, a position he was very fond of. He retired from the LIRR in 2013 and continued practicing law representing the interests of family and friends.

John was blessed with a endearing smile and a warm, engaging personality. While he had many diverse interests, what meant the most to him was his family and the sense of what family really means. His wisdom and wit were legendary, and his kindness touched the lives of all who were privileged to know him.
