John and I met in the 80´s playing basketball in Jackson, MS and we became lifelong friends. I miss our talks and visits. Lots of laughs. Hard to believe three years have passed but there´s rarely a day John´s not in my thoughts and prayers. Miss you John!

Remembering John whizzing down the basketball court to and fro, scoring points, the outbreak of cheers from the bleachers from his classmates. Such a force! Gone way too soon. -Darcee

I was in high school with John and thought of him as a very popular, well respected, great athlete but also a really nice and easy going fellow class member. He was kind and decent to all who he crossed paths with. I enjoyed catching up with him on past high school reunions.
John was a person to be looked up to and set a great example for all of us. John I will keep you always in my thoughts and prayers. I ran into Phil Palladino yesterday in Kingston NY when he told me of this sudden passing of dear John and I was very sad to hear the news. I didn't see the notice in our local paper (Kingston Freeman). God Bless you and your Family.

I met John in college, at the gym, where else. We soon became friends, then roommates. They were the best of times. He taught me how to cook and we each expanded the others musical library. After school I visited him in Boston, Georgia and then NC. They were always great times with many fond memories. A chance meeting turned into a 50 year friendship, hate to see it end, way too soon. Belinda, you and the boys were blessed, he was special. My condolences and heart go out to the family. A loss for all.

It is truly something, when one looks back 50+ years and can only recall positive memories of someone that they only knew briefly in their youth. Kind, athletic and popular with his peers - that was John. My condolences to the Geuss family, esp. George and Joey.

Debra and I were shocked and saddened when we received the news.
John was indeed one of a kind. The effort and care he showed us, our daughter, and our son through the sales and purchases of various homes was a testament to what a great guy he was.
But even that paled in comparison to the type of friend he was. A happy guy who loved life, he'll be missed by us and everyone whose life he touched. We're better for having known him.....

John called me out of the blue not so long ago to work out some memories about HS. So John like. Picking up where we had left off when we last spoke. Funny, open, inquiring, laughing and sharing new information about times and friends from the past. We didn´t get to know each other til HS BUT John quickly became a good friend. He loved having friends around. He had a little Fiat and always drove us around. He was so adventurous. Always exploring - the outdoors, the Cities, music, films, food, cheap beer and wine, fashion; loved working out; loved competing at sports and making friends of competitors. The Y has been a part of his life for over 50 years. We looked up to John, and in many ways he set the example for us for open and inclusive friendship and thought, for which I will forever be grateful.
I am so sad to learn of his passing. My memories of John are so vivid that I yearn to remember more to bring a smile and wish there were many more to create and cherish.
I am sure that the loss of his presence to family, friends and community is immense.
Rest and workout In Peace my friend. I´ll always remember that big toothy grin.

We're so sorry to learn of John's passing. He was our agent in 2014 when we bought a new home. We had a lot of fun working with him. His good humor, our enjoyable conversations about any and everything, and his willingness to go above and beyond to help us get what we wanted was much appreciated. Like a lot of clients, we wanted more than we could afford, but he was unfailingly cheery and supportive throughout the process.
We've enjoyed keeping in touch with him over the years since then. Wish we could attend the service, which is at our church. Have to be on the road Friday for a family wedding, and will be thinking about all of you who are feeling his loss. We have many fond memories of him ourselves.
