VERSAILLES — John E. Griesdorn, 67, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at 11:22 p.m. at Upper Valley Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 16, 1947, in Greenville, Ohio, the son of the late Edwin "Jiggs" and Mary Jane (Treon) Griesdorn.
He retired From General Motors Department 32 after 32 years. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles Eagles and a social member of The Versailles Vets Club.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his granddaughter, Taylor Marie Griesdorn.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Ecabert) Griesdorn, of Versailles, whom he married Feb. 20, 1971; his children and spouses, Sheri and Alec Broadfoot, of Powell, Ohio, Brian and Lori (Schlater) Griesdorn, of Versailles, Kimberly and Bret Ayers, of Coldwater, and Eric Griesdorn, of Versailles; grandchildren, Maggie, Cameron and Natalie Broadfoot, Zachary, Katelyn and A.J. Griesdorn, and Emma, Paige, Mason and Lauren Ayers; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Gina Griesdorn, of Piqua; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church, 14 E. Wood St., Versailles, Ohio, with the Rev. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2014, and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Versalles Veterans Honor Guard or the Center for Neurological Development, Burkettsville, Ohio.
