John Kirchner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 2, 2024.
John Collamore Kirchner fell asleep in the Lord on Monday, April 29, 2024. He was born on September 15, 1970 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and was the son of John and Barbara Kirchner of Winter Park, Florida. He is survived by his sister, Katherine Palceski, his two nieces Ella (20) and Ava (18) who he adored and affectionately called "The Monkeys", and a group of the most amazing and loyal friends who he lovingly referred to as his brothers. As a child, John lived in New York City before moving to Winter Park, Florida in 1976 where he spent the rest of years. John briefly attended Brandon Hall Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. While there, he was injured in a car accident on February 20, 1988 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. For many, this would have marked a period of darkness, but for John it marked the beginning of a life full of adventure and deeper meaning. John became a devout Christian and motivational speaker devoting his life to sharing his story and motivating others with his upbeat attitude and positive messages. John was the owner and creator of A+ HomeAide, a nursing agency that specialized in providing care to people with spinal injuries. He was also an accomplished author having written and published a book entitled "Roll With Me" in which he eloquently shared his own experiences and views from his always funny and glass-half-full perspective. His gift-of-gab and storytelling led him to being a highly celebrated and multi-award winning public speaker for Toast Masters. He devoted the majority of his adult life to public speaking, sharing his story and the many stories of his family and friends with others. Though his body didn't work as he often wished it could, it never stopped him from going after his dreams. With the help of his ever-devoted friends and his unstoppable attitude, John was able to travel the world visiting nearly every continent. Both pre and post-injury, John was always adventurous with an insatiable zest for life. He went sky diving eighteen times, shark diving, and even flew in a MIG fighter jet. He was always ready and eager for the next adventure. As John enters into the greatest adventure in the Kingdom of God, may his memory be eternal in the lives of all who knew him.

My name is Lena and I was one of John's caretaker and friend. My first memory of meeting with John, was the day I went for my interview. The moment I walked into his house I started crying upon seeing him..I very much distinctly John saying. If you are going cry walk back through the door and never come back...he then said if you want to work for me retrack your steps..come back in with a smile and you'll be hired...that was the start of 17 years of being with John

I was very fortunate working for John, have traveled to so many places and countries..memories that I will cherish forever..John made this possible.
John you will always be special and I will always love you for you being you.
I will miss you and hope to meet you again in heaven.
Blessed be
Lena

John as we know loved to talk and he had lots to talk about. Great stories that we all were very interested in hearing. He always told me and so many others that he wanted to write a book and I heard that so many times so I would tell him just write one. All the stories you´ve told you could have had your book if you just stopped talking for a few hours a day haha. He agreed and long story short it wasn´t an easy process day to day but he listened and got writing that book. For all that didn´t get a copy and wanted one his book is called "rolling with John" can go to his Facebook page and the link is there to find it. John will be missed as he was a very inspirational guy and loved to point out the brighter side of life rather than focus on the bad which is hard to do sometimes. Glad he went peacefully surrounded by his loved ones.

John always made me smile. He was a true and genuine soul, he spoke the truth and always knew how to make me laugh... he had more of a zest for life than anyone. He was a true inspiration in so many different ways. He was such a faithful servant of the Lord, I know he ran through Heaven´s gates with the biggest smile on and was embraced by his Lord and Savior. We have sooooo many memories together that I will never, ever forget. I feel so blessed to have known such a beautiful soul. Thank you for being you, John. Love you always.

John was my brother, not by blood, but as close as you can get. I met John when I was 15 yrs old and John was 14 yrs old. We had a great group of friends and always had a great time. John and I moved to California in the 90´s so he could attend the Walker institute to receive therapy and that´s when we became best friends and had such great adventures. We went to Hawaii and had such an amazing time.
We didn´t have smart phones and there was no internet, so we couldn´t post our adventures. We did take a lot of pictures, but they were all lost on our trip back to Florida.
We continued our friendship and traveling and had one adventure after another. We were very close for 40 yrs.
I will miss our long talks and jokes we told each other. I will miss my brother, but I will continue my adventures because I know he will always be with me. I love you John. See you again.
