BROOKSVILLE - John "Lil Yake" Lathan Jr., 64, died April 27, 2012, at Northwestern University Medical Center. Services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion MB Church with the Rev. Mack L. Young officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from noon to 6 p.m. at Carter's of Macon. Mr. Lathan was born Dec. 9, 1947, to the late John M. Lathan and Mary Eliza Stewart Lathan. He was a member of Mt. Zion MB Church. Survivors include his children, Joel Lathan of Macon, Valencia Franklin and Valerie Lathan, both of Chicago, Marvin Tate and Yvette Harris, both of Brooksville; siblings, Mary Louise Glover and Ervin Lathan, both of Brooksville, Reecy Dickson and Zal Lathan, both of Macon, U.V. Hayes and D.C. Lathan, both of St. Louis, Corean Mosley and Odessa Skinner of East St. Louis. Pallbearers are Michael King, Dirk Dickson, Avery Lathan, Cedric Glover, Billy Dickson Jr., Eldevell Allen and Julius Skinner.
