John Naylor Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 21, 2025.
John William Naylor, 79, of Beaufort, South Carolina, passed away on August 16, 2025, in Charleston, South Carolina, following complications from surgery.

He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne Charney Naylor; his daughter, Kelly Anne Naylor, and son-in-law, Christopher Marcum; his sisters, Nancy Eaton and Mary Cates; his sister-in-law, Pauline Charney Spurlock; and many dear friends.

Born in Washington, D.C., on August 5, 1946, John grew up in Arlington, Virginia. After serving proudly in the U.S. Navy, he built a distinguished career in real estate that spanned more than 30 years, retiring as a Regional Director. John spent over 25 years of his life in Chantilly, Virginia, and eventually moved to Beaufort (Lady's Island), South Carolina in 2020.

John was a gentle, caring man who found joy in life's simple pleasures. A master carpenter with a keen artistic eye, he loved designing his garden, crafting with wood, and creating beauty in the spaces around him. He also cherished time with his family and his dogs, Tucker and Tyler; sharing witty jokes that brought laughter to those around him; attending Fellowship breakfasts and Sunday brunches; and exploring the beauty of South Carolina from his golf cart.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 5:00–8:00 p.m. at the Coosaw Point River Club, 20 The Horseshoe, Beaufort, SC 29907.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends and loved ones to honor John's memory by planting a tree, celebrating his love of nature and the outdoors.

To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
