John J. O'Connell, III, 79, of Vernon and formerly of Newton, Massachusetts, beloved husband of Suzanne O'Connell, died peacefully, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Hartford Hospital with his loving and devoted family by his bedside. He was born in South Boston, Massachusetts and was the son of the late Dr. John J. O'Connell and Emma (McCarthy) O'Connell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a graduate of Boston University. John was an International and Isuzu Truck Dealer principal for Nutmeg International Trucks, Inc. He enjoyed traveling and golfing. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, John J. O'Connell, IV and wife Kitti and Timothy F. O'Connell and wife Laura; his daughter, Suzanne E. DePasquale and husband Patrick; his sister, Mary Whitaker; brothers, Paul and William O'Connell and sister, Virginia Galvin; 10 grandchildren, Kaeley, twins, Sean and Jaiden, Ryan, George, Suzanne, Kathleen, Emma, Lucy and Aria, as well as many nieces and nephews. Calling hours are Thursday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Dunstan's Church, 1345 Manchester Road, Glastonbury. Please go directly to the church. The burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations in John's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. I just arrived at Desert Princess and walked by your place and assumed something was wrong. I googled and found out the very sad news.

John was pillar at the Desert Princess and will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him.
