John Peachy Obituary

LEWISBURG — John L. Peachy, 62, of 684 Hospital Drive for four years, formerly of the Winfield area, died unexpectedly at 2:38 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2006, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, several hours after his admission.

He was born July 26, 1944, in Princess Anne, Va., a son of Irene (Miller) Peachy of New Columbia and the late Abraham Peachy. On May 23, 1968, he married the former Edna Miller, who survives.

Mr. Peachy had been in ill health for the past two years but still remained active. He enjoyed socializing with people and supporting missions.

He was a former owner of J.L. Peachy and Sons, near Winfield, a small-engine sales and service business. He also owned and operated a small farm.

Mr. Peachy was a member of Millmont Mennonite Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 38 years, are the following children and their spouses: John Mark and Melanie Peachy of Middleburg, Leona F. and Kenneth Hackenberg of Middleburg, Luke Peachy of Middleburg, Marilyn and Matthew Coblentz of Millersburg, Ohio, Edna Ruth and Wendall Hochstetler of South Carolina, Caleb M. and Priscilla Peachy of Mifflinburg, and Omar L. and Susan Peachy of Mifflinburg; 16 grandchildren; four brothers, J. Ray Peachy of Lewisburg, LeRoy Peachy of Thomas, Okla., David Peachy of New Columbia and William Peachy of Honey Grove; and one sister, Lois Freisen of rural Lewisburg.

He was preceded in death by one son, Joel, and one grandchild.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Millmont Mennonite Church, Millmont, where the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday with James Weaver and Joni Shetler officiating.

Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider gifts in John's memory to the Millmont Mennonite Mission Fund, 3055 New Berlin Mountain Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

The Gary H. Cronrath Funeral Home Inc., South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.
