John Peddie Obituary

Published by Houston Chronicle on Dec. 27, 2020.
John Peddie
1957-2020
John Franklin Peddie, age 63, passed away on Thursday, the 17th of December 2020. John was born on the 5th of July 1957.
John grew up in Houston and attended River Oaks Elementary and Lamar High School. He went on to graduate from the Forman School in Litchfield, Connecticut and attended Texas Tech University.
John was truly a one-of-a kind man, who did everything with his own sense of style and humor. He laughed loudly, loved hard and told you exactly what was on his mind. He was a gentle soul with a huge heart. John never met a stranger and his presence always filled the room. If you knew him, you loved him. He remained great friends with his peers from grade school throughout his life.
John particularly loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was a wonderful cook and often enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. His special spaghetti was always a fan favorite. John had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his dogs Bear, Joey and Tucker who already miss him greatly.
He is survived by his wife, Darilyn Michelle Peddie; his two stepchildren, Alex and Thomas Gaston (who he considered his own); his mother, Jean Peddie; sister, Anne Connally and husband, Mark; brothers, Scott Peddie, Joe Peddie and his wife, Tracy. He is preceded in death by his father, Rodman Scott Peddie.
A memorial service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 30th of December. Guests are invited to view the service via a livestream link that may be found on his online memorial tribute page at GeoHLewis.com and clicking "Join Livestream".
In lieu of the customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to Coastal Conservation Association Texas at CCA Texas, 6919 Portwest Dr., Ste. 100, Houston, TX 77024; or to Citizens for Animal Protection, 17555 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77094.

My prayers, thoughts and love go to the whole Peddie family.
I was one of those friends that John made way back in 7th grade. He and I traveled a long way together. Those memories are forever in my heart.
RIP old friend.
God bless John and his entire family.

Many fond and funny memories from elementary and junior high school, John, like the times we built a fire on the River Oaks Baptist field, then filled and flew a six-foot paper hot air balloon; and took goofy pictures in the booth at Woolworth downtown. Way too soon for one of the "good guys". My condolences to your family and loved ones.
