John Edward Rigsby, 59, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 9, 2022, while at home surrounded by his family.
He was born September 27, 1962, in Anderson. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1980 and then graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Public Relations. John spent the majority of his life working as a real estate broker. He was a member of Ovid Community Church. In his free time he loved golfing, spending time with family and friends, and cooking, especially his famous BBQ at his restaurant, Rigo's. If you have a memory of John, it probably involves laughter.
John received the gift of life through organ donation with a lung transplant in 2017. He was an advocate with Indiana Donor Network. He traveled throughout the state to tell his story and educate for organ donation awareness. This gift of life allowed him time to fulfill his dream of becoming a Grampa.
John is survived by his wife, Carla (Davis) Rigsby; sons, Christopher "Chris" (Carrie) Rigsby & TJ Holloway; mother, Jane (Rolfe) Rigsby; siblings, Tom (Robin) Rigsby, Mary (Neal) Kirby, Ann (Mike) Oddi, and Joe (Sam) Rigsby; grandchildren, Ralph & Nellie Rigsby, and one on the way; aunt, Mary Rigsby; uncle, Tom (Sally) Rolfe; and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded by his father, Gerald E. Rigsby; uncle, David Patrick Rigsby; grandparents, Ralph & Julia Rigsby, Perry & Marion Rolfe.
Services will be at 1 pm Wednesday, April 13, at Ovid Community Church, 793 E. 600 S., Anderson, with Pastor Keith Wooden officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 Tuesday, April 12, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Donor Network or Ovid Community Church
