On July 31, 2019 age 92 of West Homestead, PA and Southern Pines, NC. Son of the late Joseph and Catharine Wain. Beloved husband of Susan (Howe)  Wain and the late Lillian Ullom Wain. Loving father of  John Charles (Collette) Wain., M.D., Esther Ruth Wain-Weiss and Rebecca Lillian (Scott Nye) Wain. Cherished grandfather of Thomas Anthony Weiss, Matthew Jonathan Weiss, Peter James Weiss, Elizabeth Ruth Weiss, John Charles Wain III, Lily Constance Wain and Laurel Faye Wain, Lillyanne Elizabeth Wain-Nye, and Charles Scott Wain-Nye. Great-Grandfather to Tomas "Tony" Weiss and John Weiss. Brother of William (Loretta) Scott Wain. Uncle of David William (Hay-Wun) Wain, Laura (Lynn) Clark and Lydia Conley. Great-Uncle of Brian (Demi) Clark, Heather (Nick) Mohler, Nicole Wain, Ashley Wain, Catharine Wain and Chris Conley. Great-Great-Uncle of Maizie Clark, Willa Clark, Hannah Mohler and Marcus Conley. Great-Grand dog - Kit. Charlie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved cars, skiing and walking on the beach at Singer Island and Wrightsville Beach.  He traveled all over the world with his children and first wife, Lillian from Russia, China, Japan, Africa, Hawaii and Scandinavia, London, Isle of Jersey, Paris and Brussels. His main love was cars. He could tell details about cars from the beginning of the motor cars to the present. He especially enjoyed the adventures of the Rolls-Royce Owners Club and the places of the annual meeting held around the country from coast to coast. In Williamsburg 2008 our 1991 silver spur II won first place out of 40 cars in that group of the Touring Class in the 57th annual Rolls Royce Owners Club meet.  Moving to Southern Pines two years ago to a house he thought to be the most beautiful house he was ever in. His favorite song was "Summit Ridge Drive" by Artie Shaw; his favorite quote was "Benny Goodman played notes, Artie Shaw played Music!!" His daily quote was "War is the dumbest thing we do". U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII,  member of the Shadyside Presbyterian Church former Trustee, he practiced Medicine in the Steel Valley area for over 42 years. Member of St. Andrew's Society of North Carolina for over 30 years; Member of F&AM Lodge #582, Scottish Rite and Syria Shriners over 60 years; former member of the board of directors of the Pitcairn-Crabbe Foundation. A Committal Service will be on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills, PA.  Please share your memories and condolences at www.georgeigreenfuneralhome.com.
