John Witkowsky Obituary

John R. "Jake" Witkowsky, of 167 Branford Rd., North Branford, formerly of Branford, died at his home Tuesday March 3, 2009 after a long battle with diabetes. He was born in New Haven July 6, 1940, son of the late Peter J. and Harriet Field Witkowsky. Jake was a graduate of Branford High School. He served in the U. S. Army, and was a former volunteer fireman with MP Rice Hose Company 2 in Branford. He was retired from the Atlantic Wire Co. in Branford, where he had worked for 30 years. He is survived by his loving children, Diane (Daniel) Theroux of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, John (Tiffanie) Witkowsky and Scott Witkowsky of North Branford. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Stephanie and Lauren Theroux, Jonathon, Jocelynn, Jacob, Jamilynn and Joshua Witkowsky; his sister Ann (Jack) Murphy of Florence, AL; his niece Susan (James) Glasso and nephew Peter Murphy; and his former wife Helen Leskovsky of FL. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service Saturday morning at 10:00 in the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 504 Main St., Branford, with the Reverend Wayne Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Branford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457.
