Johnathan Robinson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2025.
With deep reverence and heartfelt sorrow, we share the passing of Mr. Johnathan Nathaniel "Johnny" Robinson, who departed this life on August 13, 2025, in Sacramento, California. He was 92 years old-a long and honorable life marked by service, devotion, and enduring love. Born on October 11, 1932, in Colón, Panama, the son of Arnold and Eva Robinson where he learned in his early years the strength and resilience that would define his journey. At the age of 18, he answered the call to serve his adopted country, enlisting in the United States Army in 1950. Over a remarkable military career spanning more than 26 years, he served with distinction during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Rising through the ranks with unwavering integrity and leadership, he retired as a First Class Sergeant-a reflection of his steadfast character and dedication to duty.

Following military service, Johnathan Robinson continued a life of commitment to his loving wife, Shirley Robinson. Their 65 years of marriage was a bond of unwavering love, laughter, and companionship, a foundation that supported and inspired all who knew them. He cherished traveling the world alongside his beloved wife Shirley, adding a new page to their shared journey and occasionally enjoying his favorite game of blackjack, where moments of laughter added lightness to his life.

Robinson is remembered not only for his steadfast devotion to his wife, but also for the warmth, generosity, and strength he offered to his children, grandchildren, other loved ones and friends. Whether through small acts of kindness, he touched lives in ways that will never be forgotten.

He was preceded in death by all seven of his siblings-each one a thread woven into the fabric of his story.

Johnathan's family was central to his heart-a legacy built over generations. He is remembered by his children: Betty Robinson; Linda Robinson; Cynthia Robinson; and Diana Robinson Jones (deceased). His memory lives on through his grandchildren: Danica Robinson Liles; Monique Jones Gordon; Jessica Love; Adam Franklin; and Bruce Thomas; as well as his great-grandson Semaj I. Santiago Gordon. Numerous nieces and nephews also held special places in his life and were part of the tapestry of relationships that brought him joy.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, 10:00 AM at St. Paul Catholic Church located at 8720 Florin Road in Sacramento. A burial service with military honors will follow starting at 1:15 PM at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery at 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, CA 95620.

The legacy of Johnathan Robinson is one of courage, sacrifice, and love. Though his earthly journey has ended, the love he gave endures. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
