COMISKEY, JOSEPH V.
formerly of North Providence and Bonnet Shores, passed away December 28 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Gloria (Montella) Comiskey, for 69 years. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Anthony Comiskey (formerly Kunigauskas) and Anna (Cikanaviciute) Comiskey, and brother of the late Ernest Comiskey of Wheeling, West Virginia. He is also survived by daughters Sandra Lanni and her husband Dennis of North Kingstown, and Karen Comiskey Jenkins and her late husband Christopher of Exeter.
Joseph served in World War II as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army, stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. He took pride in sharing his "war stories" and photographs with anyone with time to listen, and was honored to wear his veteran's hat wherever he went.
Following his stint in the service, Joseph spent the majority of his career as chief reliability engineer for Northrop Grumman Corp., retiring in 1987 after 21 years. He was most proud of his contributions to Boeing aircraft and the US Space Shuttle program.
Joseph was a dedicated family man. He passed on many skills, teaching his daughters to ski at a young age, along with how to drive a hard bargain for a Christmas tree. He enjoyed dancing, sailing, quahogging, traveling, playing cards, and could fix anything around the house. He loved a challenge, and won many awards in competitive pistol shooting.
Joseph is also survived by grandsons James Blanding and wife Julie of Coventry; Derek and Cody Jenkins of Olympia, WA; and Andrew and Matthew Lanni of North Kingstown, along with a large circle of other relatives and friends. He loved them all.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 am from the Nardolillo Funeral Home SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL 1111 Boston Neck Rd., Narragansett, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Veronica's Chapel, Narragansett. Burial with military honors will be held in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS: Monday 3- 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517, or St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St., Narragansett, RI 02882. Joe was always part of my life being a best friend to my parents. I remember him as a highly intelligent and kind man. He was devoted to his wife, Gloria, and his daughters, Sandra and Karen. They were always an extraordinary family and I was blessed to be a part of their lives. I know he's in a wonderful place in Heaven and will watch over his loved ones. He will be missed.

Love, Lyn
