Joe passed away peacefully on December 31, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born in San Mateo, CA on June 19, 1933 to Joseph and Stella Corby. Joe grew up in King City, CA. He went on to spend 3 years in the U.S. Army where he served 16 months in Korea as a Staff Sergeant. Joe met his wife, Pat, while working at Well Fargo Bank in San Francisco, CA. They moved to Novato, CA where they spent over 30 happy years raising their four children. In 2011, Joe moved to Hughson, CA where he enjoyed being an active member of the Samaritan Village retirement community and living close to his grandchildren. Joe enjoyed many hobbies over the years, he was an avid golfer at Indian Valley Golf Course in Novato and later at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in Oakdale. Joe also enjoyed being an Amateur Ham Radio Operator, listening to classical music, exploring the world while traveling with his wife, working on his computer, watching Giants baseball games, leading "History with Joe" at his retirement community, and, over the last few years, learning creative writing. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Kathleen "Pat" Ring and brother John Corby. Joe was a loving father and is survived by his four children: Eileen (Pete) Van Dyke, Kathy Corby, Joanne (Bill) Rollin and Joe Corby and grandchildren Melissa Van Dyke, Matthew Van Dyke and Greg Van Dyke; as well as nephews and nieces.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 16th, 2024 at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. Visitation will start at Noon, with the service starting at 1 pm. He will be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Catholic Relief Services.
