Joseph "J.A" Fontenot

Joseph "J.A." Fontenot, 75, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. He is a native and resident of Whitehall, LA. J.A was a retired carpenter, he enjoyed fishing and being in his garden. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Josephine Delatte Fontenot; sister, Ethel Vicknair; brother, Larry Fontenot. He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his wife of 54 years, Jackie Fontenot; daughters, Deanna (Todd) Canter, Denise (Danny) Clark, Desiree (Troy) Leader; grandchildren, Darion Canter, Denae Clark, Destin Clark, Dixie Leader; brother, Jerry (Debra) Fontenot; sisters, Geraldine Bourgeois, Mary Ann (Guy) Villnurve and a host of other relatives and friends. Family and friends of J.A. are invited to attend the Visitation on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Ourso Funeral Home-Gonzales from 5pm-8pm and will resume on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at ST. Stephens Catholic Church at 10:30am with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11am. Interment: Whitehall Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center especially Dr. David Hanson and associate Malorie Irwin, NP, for caring for Joseph the last 8 years fighting cancer.
