Joseph Kucin Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 19, 2025.
Joseph W Kucin, age 86, of Englewood, FL, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025. A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Joe lived a life marked by creativity, service, and a love for family, friends. He enjoyed nature, animals and storytelling.

Born in February 1939, Joe was a true craftsman at heart. He was passionate about woodworking, plant care and restoration, and he even invented a unique lotion specifically for woodburners. Whether building with his hands or tending to his garden, he poured thought and care into everything he did.

Joe was also a lifelong sports fan, a dedicated golfer who accomplished a "hole-in- One" and took 1st place at a Charlotte Classic tournament but someone who never missed a chance to enjoy a good laugh. His warmth, humor and adventurous spirit touched all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved brother, Thomas Kucin (Brenda); his beloved sister, Therese Esposito (Louis) and his brother-in-law Robert Messinger. He is preceded in death by his son, John Joseph Kucin, his parents Al and Ann Kucin, his longtime partner Donna Fitzgerald and his siblings, Alan Kucin, Jane Walsh, Alice Yorks, Margaret Powers and Nancy Messinger. He is also survived by a large, loving group of nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward with pride and affection.

Semper Fi, Joe. You are very deeply loved and will be forever remembered by all your family & friends including those who were Friends of Bill W.

A mass will be held in Joe's honor on July 23 at 9:00am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs, FL.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
