JOSEPH K.
Age 73, on March 16, 2007 of Ross Twp. Mr. Kummer was a retired City of Pittsburgh Fire Captain, and was known to friends as "Fire Dog". He was appointed to the Bureau of Fire in 1959, promoted to Lieutenant in 1970, and to Captain in 1975. He was last assigned to the Old No. 7 Engine Co. in the Strip Dist. before retiring in 1981. He was a member of Firefighters Local #1 and an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was also a member of Pittsburgh Firefighters American Legion Post 509 and a member of the Veteran Firefighter's Association. Mr. Kummer is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Barr Kummer; a son, Ronald J. of Shaler Twp; two daughters, Sandra L. Corraini & husband Joseph of Ecomomy Boro and Diane L. Dougherty & husband James of McCandless. Also surviving are two sisters, Marilyn Palamara of Whitehall and Carol Ann McCollum Of Kennedy Twp. and a brother, Robert Kummer of Murrysville. Brother of the late Norman Kummer. Grandfather of Christina, Denise, Matthew and Jessica. Visitation Sun. & Mon. 2-4 & 7-9 at NEELYS, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. Mass of Christian Burial Tues. 10 am, St. Sebastian Church. Entombment in The Temple of Love Mausoleum, Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless.

Our condolences and sincere sympathies to the Kummer family. I am at fault; I forgot to mention Joe was also the Chaplin of A.L. Post #509. We are always saddened when we lose one of our own. We will keep you and Joe in our prayers. May he lead the angels in prayer!

Firedog was my buddy. I will miss him at Bar Millvale. He was kind, gentle and sweet. He always said a hello to each and every person when he came in. His pet name for me was Cyndy girl.I will miss him dearly. My condolence to his wife and family. Love ya Joe Joe.
