MCISAAC -Dr. Joseph Clifford (August 30, 1930-July 25, 2006) passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Health Care Centre in Guelph, Ontario, Tuesday, July 25, 2006, from secondary complications associated with Alzheimer's disease. Beloved husband of Marie (nee Vandervoort) McIsaac of Guelph. Loving father of Cathy (Jacques) Messier of Guelph, Alex (Maureen) McIsaac, Mona (Lyle) Goodman both of Saskatoon, Chris (Carolyn) McIsaac of Calgary, Mark (Suzanne) McIsaac and Marge McIsaac (D'Arcy McGuire) both of Ottawa. Proud grandfather of Andre and Jason; Erica, Francis, Matthew and Chloe; Calla; Carlee; Krysta, Cheyanne and Tyler; and Isaac. Great grandfather of Jordyn, Taylor and Ashton. Brother of Mary (2004) and John Lenz of Saskatoon, Francis (1979) and Barb McIsaac of Fairview, Claire and Buff Connolly of Charlottetown and Raymond and Shirley McIsaac of Camrose. By God's grace, Cliff's family was gathered for celebrations, and his last days were spent surrounded by those he loved. Cliff was a man of strong morals and values, a compassionate and devout Catholic who lived his faith in all aspects of life. He was a proud P.E.Islander, teacher, veterinarian, farm manager, provincial and federal parliamentarian, public servant, husband, father and grandfather. Cliff enriched the lives of all those he touched. He was a visionary, and a man who treated everyone with dignity and respect, always ready to listen and give support. Cliff loved to talk, and his twinkling blue eyes and quick smile instantly put people at ease. He never forgot his roots and made frequent visits to P.E.I and Saskatchewan, proudly flying both flags at his home in Ottawa. Cliff graduated from the Truro Agricultural College in 1950 and the Ontario Veterinary College in 1955. He established veterinary practices first in Unity and later in North Battleford, Saskatchewan before entering politics, first as an M.L.A. in Saskatchewan with Ross Thatcher, then as a Federal M.P., and Liberal Party Whip, with Pierre Elliot Trudeau. Cliff's public service career spanned many years, including such roles as Commissioner of the Canadian Dairy Commission and Chairman of the National Farm Products Marketing Council. Friends will be received at the Hennessey Funeral Home, Charlottetown, P.E.I., Friday (7:00 9:00 p.m.). Funeral Service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Cornwall, P.E.I, Saturday, July 29, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Martin's Parish, followed by a light lunch. The family would like to thank the wonderful care and support of the staff at St. Joseph's Heath Care Centre and the Riverside Glen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society, 111 MacDonell St., Guelph N1H 2Z7 would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Wall-Custance Funeral Home & Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph. (519-822-0051 or www.wallcustance.com ).

Marie and Family - Words fail when it comes to describing Cliff, his contribution to Canada, his vibrant personality, his warm and honest friendship, A lot of shared experiences, a lot of happy times, some tough slugging, but all wonderful memories. I have found myself unusually saddened the last few days. I wish the very best to you all.

My depest sympathy to all the family.

I had the great pleasure of working with Dr. McIsaac at the Canadian Dairy Commission. A gentlemen and professional in the full sense of the words. He made every meeting and encounters, memorable. I enjoyed his wit and many tales while walking to and from meetings. God surely has a special place for this wonderful man.

I am very saddened to learn of the passing of my friend and colleague, Cliff McIssaac. I worked with Cliff when he was Minister of Municipal Affairs and later Minister of Education in the period 1965 to 1971. He was a loyal friend, a devoted family man and a great servant of the public. He sacrificed an incredible amount to be an elected representative in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan and the Parliament of Canada. Although he was a decidedly partisan Liberal, his integrity attracted the respect of political friend and foe alike. Marie and family, I extend to you my deepest sympathies on the loss of this wonderful man. The memory of his great intelligence, his ready smile, his keen sense of humour, and his dedication to public service will remain dear to me always.
