Joseph Pollock Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 20, 2025.
Joseph Rand Pollock, 79, passed away peacefully at home on February 17, 2025, in Simi Valley, California after bravely battling an autoimmune disease for many months. Born on February 18, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Joseph lived a life filled with love for his family, dedication to service, and a generous spirit that touched many. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Joseph served from 1963 to 1967 during the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class and was honorably discharged after completing his service aboard the USS England (DLG-22). His strong work ethic and attention to detail were very important aspects of his life, whether completing home projects, or his career at Xerox.

Joseph cherished his family above all else. He was married to his beloved wife, Elma, for 56 years. Together, they built a life filled with love and devotion and he was a dedicated father to three children. He also took immense pride in his three grandchildren and whether cheering them on at sporting events or enjoying their choir and band performances, he found great joy in being part of their milestones. Beyond his devotion to family, Joseph had a passion for gardening that he enjoyed while watching the birds that visited his backyard feeder. He had an easygoing nature and loved striking up conversations with anyone he met. His kindness knew no bounds-he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Those who knew him will remember his generosity, thoughtfulness, and warm sense of humor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Connie and Gaylord, as well as his brothers Jimmy and John. Though they are gone, their memories remained close to him throughout his life.

He is survived by his beloved wife Elma, his loving children Jennifer (Ray), Dave (Jodie), and Tom (Brenda) as well as his cherished grandchildren Anthony, Nathaniel and Kathryn. He is survived by his sister Gail. He also leaves behind a host of family members including brothers in law Brad, Howard and Eric, sisters in law Tammi and Brenda as well as many nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and all those whose lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.

Joe left behind an absolute legacy. He was such a big part of so many of our lives, pieces of who he is will go on forever.

It's hard to pick a single memory to share. Riding on his shoulders as a baby, riding on his bike as a child, stepping through that back door more times than I can count, just to feel at home. I remember working in his garden with him, watching the tomatoes grow. I remember him setting up the computer for me to play on, and printing out my "artwork" so I could take it home. I remember him. He was always there, and he always will be, because none of us will forget.

Joe was a very gentle, kind man. When I would visit my son's family in Los Angeles, Joe and Elma would drive down and we would enjoy lunch at our favorite Chinese restaurant. Those visits will be sorely missed.
