SALEM — Mr. Joseph Sidney Stavros, 56, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008.
Born on April 3, 1952, in Mt. Clemens, Mich., Joseph was the beloved son of Peter H. and Alfreda (Weinburg) Stavros of Salem.
Joseph was a wonderful person who led an extremely colorful life and throughout his life he helped many people from all walks of life.
In addition to his loving parents, Joseph is survived by four loving brothers, Peter H. Stavros Jr. and his wife Pamela of Haverhill, Gary L. Stavros and his wife Trudy of Peabody, Dwayne R. Stavros and his partner Elaine Guy of Salem and Darryl Stavros and his wife Bonnie of Salem; three loving sisters, Roxann Stavros, wife of the late Kevin Doherty of Salem, Michelle A. Stavros of Salem and Danigayle (Stavros) Harris and her husband Stephen of Salem. Joseph is also survived by many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Private funeral arrangements have been made by the family. Assisting the family with the arrangements is The O'Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) Salem. On line guestbook at www.legacy.com. If you would like to honor Joseph, memorial donations may be made in his name to the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the children's charity of your choice. Joseph's family thanks you for remembering him in such a thoughtful way.

My Sympathy to the Stavros Family and to all the people that Joe touched. Joe was friend to us back in the days of The Monks Teen Town The Bildge. Some my most best memories of my life. The gang of kids that hung around were great and Joe was a part of it all. Saw Joe last at The Monk Reunion at Danversport 2001 with a bunch of old friends. Joe was a great guy and will be missed sf

Joseph - You were such a light in everyone's life that had the pleasure of knowing you. There will never be a more thoughtful, caring and tell it how it is kind of soul, you call a spade a spade and made no apologies for it.. When you were thinking of someone you let them know it, nothing beats getting a card in the mail, you sent the best. You always had an angel in your pocket to hand off to those in need of a pick me up.
I will cherish all of our talks, your honesty, your sensitivity and your unbelievable stories. We all give our deepest sympathy to the family, but know that you raised a genuine, compassionate wonderful one of-a-kind man who will be deeply missed by all who had the benefit of meeting him. To all of you:
I can't even begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. You have always made me feel like part of your family and my heart is just hurting. You all need to be there for your Mom and Dad right now. It just isn't natural to bury a child especially one like Joseph Sidney Stavros. He was truly 1 of a kind. There will never be anyone like him. My deepest sympthoy to all. Rocky hang in there - this was much to close in time for you. Joey may you rest in peace.
