Josie Sanchez Obituary

Josie V. Sanchez - (Josefa Gregorita Sanchez)

Our Mother after an extended illness went to her eternal reward on April 11, 2025, at the age of 93. Mom was born on June 26, 1931, in Tapicitoes, NM to Juan P. Valdez and Maria A. Valdez, she was married to Bernardo Sanchez, Jr. on May 26, 1947, in Lumberton, NM. Mother was preceded in death by her parents and her Husband Bernardo and eldest son Benjamin E. Sanchez. She was the Eldest of seven children, all of whom have preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Oracio Bernardo Sanchez, Anita B. Sanchez, Epifanio F. Sanchez, Gregory A. Sanchez, Joe J. Sanchez, and Patricio W. Sanchez. Mom had Seven Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. Mom worked hard in life; She had employments over the years in the custodial, housekeeping, and home health care industries. Mother always put family before herself throughout her life in all instances: way too many to list and best known to the Lord now! Most of all, Mom loves the Lord and his Blessed Mother. Mother was active in the Church and belonged to three different Legion of Mary Praesidium over the years. When her health could no longer allow her to be physically active, she helped by becoming an Auxiliary member of the Legion Mary. Mom was very practical and industrious and disliked any kind of waste of either material or time: everything had to have its place and particular use. She was very loving and protective of her family. When Dad became terminal with cancer and became a bed patient Mom took care of him for over a year and a half until he was called home by the Lord. Out of respect for my Mom not liking too many words or too much embellishment about her life (which she would say has already passed and now up to Lord ) please pray for her Eternal Salvation and offer a Mass or a Rosary for her: you can bet that would make her the happiest as she now has gone home and as she would always say: Jesus I hope you have a little corner for me Lord! Rest in Peace now Momma! Pray for Us!

A Rosary will be prayed on Monday April 21, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Cope Memorial Chapel-Farmington located at: 404 W. Arrington St., Farmington, NM 87401.

On Tuesday April 22, 2025, a Rosary led by the Legion of Mary will be prayed at 10:00 AM followed by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at 11:00 AM offed by Fr. Frank Chacon, assisted by Deacon Jim Betts and the Faithful at St. Mary's Catholic Church located at 2100 East 20TH Street, Farmington, NM 87401. Burial will follow at Aztec Cemetery located in Aztec, NM., followed by a reception at St. Mary's Parish Hall in Farmington, NM.
